Cost

A case management system for small to medium sized agencies needs to be affordable. In the traditional custom built software model a case management system as defined above would run into the millions of dollars to build. There are standalone systems for small scale use which are affordable for non-profits; but do not meet all the parameters listed in this blog and thereby limit the growth of that system. For the short term this may be appropriate given the lack of standards and lack of choice in case management ASP services. ASP services hold the greatest promise of lowering costs to agencies.
